Indie developer

I build calm software that doesn’t spy on you.

Currently shipping Mizan — a privacy-first expense tracker for Android. Offline by default, no accounts, no telemetry. Available for select projects with a similar shape.

Selected work

Mizan

Android · Flutter · Privacy-first finance

A finance app that doesn’t sync to anyone. Your spending log is a SQLite file on your phone. No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry. Encrypted backup (AES-256-GCM, PBKDF2 600k iterations) for when you actually want a copy off-device. Optional AI assistant runs on a key you provide — there is no Mizan server in the middle.

Built solo over 14 weeks. End-to-end Flutter on Android with a monochrome Material 3 system and a foldable-aware adaptive layout. Currently in Closed Testing on the Play Store ahead of public launch.

About

I’m Zaki. I build software when the existing options take too much from the user — too many accounts, too much telemetry, too much “sign in with…” for what should be a small private tool.

My approach is restraint: pick a single, sharp value proposition, ship the smallest version that proves it, then polish until the surface stops fighting you. Mizan is the cleanest example of that I’ve done — every feature has to survive a privacy-cost test before it ships.

I work in Flutter (Android-first), Kotlin for the native bits, plain HTML/CSS for marketing surfaces. I’m comfortable with the full release pipeline — Play Console, code signing, obfuscation, encrypted-backup formats — and I document decisions inline so the next person (often future me) can read why.

Let’s talk.

Open to short, well-scoped engagements. Anything Flutter-shaped, Android-platform-shaped, or privacy-first-software-shaped lands in my inbox cleanly. For everything else, write anyway — I’ll tell you honestly if it’s not a fit.
